Manchester Road – Swinton
Our nursery is split into four areas, with each being devoted to caring for a specific age range. We have designed our nursery so that children move between rooms when they are ready, not based on what their age is.
Our days are not rigidly structured, but all rooms try to keep to a routine that the children can recognise and anticipate. A familiar routine helps to ensure that your child is happy and secure.
Babies and Tots
Babies aged between 0 and 16 months have their own dedicated room, as do Tots aged from 16-24 months. Our staff nurture children’s natural curiosity ands support development such as learning to feed themselves, learning to crawl or walk and to explore the world around them. We encourage our babies to explore using a cast range of resources that enable them as unique children to develop and gain skills and their senses through play.
We follow individual sleep and feeding patterns to maintain consistency with home life and to foster a feeling of security. The Babies and Tots rooms offer those little ones that are moving around larger play spaces for them to develop physically.
During this vital stage children develop and change so quickly that it is important that all of their needs and interests are met. Children are encouraged to make their own choices and are able to freely access a wide range of resources – from role play and home corner to small world and construction; allowing children to be creative and use their own imaginations.
The Baby room has its own nappy changing station and the Tots room has its own bathroom. When your child is showing signs of wanting to use the toilet, we can work closely with you and support this.
Tots quickly transform into Toddlers and this room covers children aged 24 to 36 months. Our qualified and experienced practitioners are on hand to offer a wide variety of play and learning activities building on children’s natural desire to make relationships, explore and discover. We encourage their developing social awareness and help their growing self-esteem, self-confidence and independence. This room is equipped with toys and resources that are age specific to both challenge and enhance each individual child’s interests.
We actively promote physical development opportunity, for example by jumping, climbing and running indoors with safe supervision.
Pre School is based outside within our award-winning Forest School facility; the first within the City of Salford in an early years setting. It was introduced in Spring 2020 in a completely redeveloped area of the nursery and our children learn by following the Forest School ethos and curriculum. This allows them the time and space to develop skills, interests and understanding through a diverse range of activities.
The Forest School is predominantly an outdoor learning facility where children experience the natural environment in and around the woodland areas attached to the nursery; a natural environment in all weathers. It affords them an opportunity to learn and acquire new skills in a completely different way under the close supervision of our qualified and experienced Forest School Leader. They are free to explore, investigate and problem solve whilst assessing their own risks.
Our children are at one with nature and learn how to grow a range of plants, vegetables, herbs and spices and these are incorporated into our daily menus. They are aware of the food journey from the seed to the plate.
They also help to look after our Forest School chickens and rabbits, including feeding and keeping their enclosure clean as well as collecting any eggs that are laid. These are cooked on the fire pit for breakfast.
Manchester Road – Manager’s Welcome
My name is Natalie Jones and I am delighted to be part of the team here at Kidzrus Nursery and Forest School, Swinton. I have a Level 4 Qualification in Childcare and Level 5 Qualification in Leadership and Management alongside more than 19 years experience as an early years practitioner and in early years management.
I’m a parent of two children, a boy aged 14 and a daughter aged 18. Whilst they are all a little older than your precious little ones it seems like only yesterday that they were running round my feet! Away from work, I like to spend as much time as possible with my family at our home on Mwnt Beach, Cardigan.
I understand how rewarding but also how difficult the role of a parent can be especially that of a working parent. We all want our children to be happy and well cared for and provide them with the best learning opportunities. I can assure you that I along with the dedicated staff team is committed to improving children’s outcomes and providing a home from home environment for your child.
