Dear parents,

Welcome to our new-look nursery blog! Each nursery will be taking it in turns – on a weekly basis – to give our families an update. We’re not feeling any pressure being the first ones, honest!

Firstly, I would like to thank all of the parents and grandparents I have had the pleasure of meeting so far, you have all been extremely welcoming and I hope to spend more time getting to know each of you. As you are aware, I have taken over the manager post at Irlam and our fabulous Jenny will be slowly transitioning to Monton setting: we would like to wish her the best of luck with this. I’m sure she will be missed by parents and children alike.

Nursery updates

Sadly this week we have lost Shannon Hardy from our preschool room, she has unfortunately had to relocate; we wish her the best of luck in her future endeavours. We are currently interviewing to fill Shannon’s role at the nursery and are hoping to recruit a deputy manager. If you have any questions during this transitional period, please do pop into the office for a chat.

A huge thank you to all the parents who attended the afternoon tea on Thursday, it was great to get some insight into our parent views and also share my vision for the nursery with you. If you missed this, please do not hesitate to come for a chat any time.

Over the coming months we are hoping to really drive the nursery forward and have plans in place to monitor and build upon our teaching and learning; particularly in the toddler 2 and preschool rooms. We will be inviting Darren Matthews (Kidzrus’ new Quality manager) into the nursery to observe our practice; supporting us to continually reflect upon and develop our skills. This is an invaluable opportunity to support our practitioner’s continuous professional development and ensure that each child is learning and thriving.

We will be reviewing our upcoming events at the nursery and I will be updating the parent information board to include what I hope is information you will find useful, including; upcoming nursery events, local events, employee of the month and also any changes to how the practitioners will be information-sharing through parentzone. (If you would like to vote for your employee of the month, please see me in the office, we’d love to involve parents in this.)

Lastly, you will have all noticed that parent questionnaires have been issued in the past couple of weeks, if you have not had one please see your child’s key person! We are really keen to get all of our families’ views and I will be using this as a starting point for our nursery self evaluation and improvement plan so please return these to the office, your opinion counts!

Thank you for your continued support.

Warm regards,

Lydia Fitzpatrick
