A blog by Natalie Jones, Manager, Kidzrus Swinton Nursery and Forest School.
On Monday, 17 July our Toddler children at Swinton Nursery and Forest School were delighted to have a visit to our outdoor area from Myles’s Mummy who works as Cabin Crew and Daddy who works as a Pilot for TUI Holidays.
This was an extra special treat for the children as it linked in with their current interests in travel and holidays. Recently they have had many discussions with the Room Practitioners about the places near and far that they have been to, how they travelled, how long it took to get there, who they went with and how long for. They excitedly spoke about what their plans are for the Summer holidays, and these ranged from day trips to the zoo and weekends away to annual family holidays abroad.
Lyndsey and Dave’s visit was arranged by Natalie, Nursery Manager and Caitlin, Practitioner in the Toddler Room as an ideal opportunity to extend our children’s learning and to gain a greater understanding of the world at large. They came wearing their uniforms and were loaded with many exciting ‘hands-on’ things to capture our children’s attention and imagination including maps, books, toy planes, a tablet with video’s as well as hats and uniforms; so, they were sure to have an amazing experience.
Myles was very happy and proud to see his Mummy and Daddy at nursery and for them to spend time with his friends. Alongside our Practitioners Stacey, Ellie, Caitlin and Katie, Lyndsey and Dave talked with our children about their jobs, the people they meet and the places that they visit and showed many photographs of them ‘at work’. The children were so excited and fascinated to see the photos and Holly said “Wow! Look at you!” Leo was curious and asked, “Where is the plane going to?” and Mia asked, “How high is the plane going?” Nom wanted to know “How fast does the plane go?” Coen was full of awe when he commented “Wow! Police lights!”
Lyndsey read some books about working for an airline and on aeroplanes, Dave shared video clips and our children played with replica planes that Lyndsey and Dave work on. The highlight of the visit was when our children excitedly tried on uniforms and wore hats, acting out and role playing as Cabin Crew and Pilots for the time that they shared with Lyndsey and Dave.
We would like to thank Lyndsey and Dave our fabulous parents for providing our Toddler children at Kidzrus Swinton Nursery and Forest School with a truly memorable and amazing learning experience, for their patience in answering the many questions that our children posed and for sharing the lovely things that they brought to enrichen their unique day. We really are truly grateful.
