On Friday the 25th June Kidzrus Irlam celebrated Armed Forces Day. Kati our fabulous Nursery Manager brought some authentic RAF uniform in for the children to explore. Kati is part of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets and wore her uniform, as she walked in to the preschool room the children turned around and were extremely shocked. One of the children said “Oh look Kati, you’re a police woman” Kati talked with the children about the uniform she was wearing and who wears the type of uniform.
Along with the uniform Kati was wearing she also brought a selection of different types of RAF uniform for the children to look at and try on including combats (MTP and DPM) a flying suit and helmet, and different types of blue uniform. The children were very eager to try on the different types of uniform and learnt lots of different words including epillete, beret and rank slide.
Kati also brought along a 30 foot real parachute which the children explored in the garden, they had lots of fun hiding inside it and using it as a tent and enjoyed when the staff lifted it in the air so the could run in and out. What an amazing experience for our children which promoted lots if interesting and thought provoking questions. Thank you Kati for the wonderful opportunity and thank you to all our loyal soldiers who serve to protect us.
